Rhodes, the largest island of the Greek Dodecanese group and the third largest of Greece, lies in the Northeast part of the Aegean Sea and very close to the coast of Asia Minor.
The total area is 1.398 sq km. The length is 78km (the length of its beaches are 220km). The greatest width is 38km. Population exceeds 90.000 of which approximately 60.000 live in the city of Rhodes.
Rhodes also known as the emerald of the Mediterranean, the legendary island of the Knights, and the island of the sun and roses, is of tremendous interest both because of its natural beauty and its ancient treasures.
